Define your future lifestyle

Remember when you were a child and people asked you what you wanted to do when you grew up. That may be a backwards approach. What happens with that approach is you decide what you want to do, learn how to do it and then what you do defines your lifestyle.

For example, let's say you choose to do computer programming. You go to school, get good grades, get a good job, and then your wages, hours of work, days off and other lifestyle issues are defined by what you do.
The company you work for, your supervisor, or the employee handbook dictate how much time you can spend with your family, what days of the week you get off and what your wages are. After a few years you aren't paid what you are worth, you're paid what the position pays. After 30 years are or so you get to retire on 1/2 to 1/3 of the income you had when you worked.

What if there were another way?

What if you first defined your lifestyle, and then learned from someone who had that lifestyle  and then learned to do what they do to achieve it.  Wouldn't you have a better chance of achieving the lifestyle that they have.

You might be able to set your own hours, get out of debt, vacation more, and determine your own level of income or retire young (really young). Doesn't that make sense?

It all starts with defining where you want to be. If you don't define change, you are defining it to be what it is now. Take time to define your future the way you want it to be.
